I am pleased to announce that I have been selected as a presenter for a very exciting and unique gathering, happening in just over a week. Death:OK is a one-day conference focusing on a myriad of discussions and approaches to the topic of death and dying.
Last spring, one of the organizers, Holly Pruett, asked if I would like to present my memorial quilts as part of their Arts and Experience track. It was such an honor to be asked, I accepted right away. In my talk, I will introduce participants to the art form of memorial quilts, explain how I got started making them, and will share examples and their stories.
I will be joined by over 60 other presenters, artists and speakers at Death:OK Let’s Talk About It. This event is happening at the beautiful Reed College campus on October 17 and is a 10-hour day of inspiration, information, and connection. I’m particularly excited to hear Stephen Jenkinson speak – he is a spiritual activist, teacher, author, farmer, and was the subject of the acclaimed documentary, Griefwalker.
Oh, and did I mention the conference is completely sold out?! Certainly speaks volumes about people’s desire to connect and discuss issues around death and dying in our culture. A big congrats to all the organizers and volunteers who have been working tirelessly on what is sure to be an exciting event!
