I want to give a shout out to a new, amazing business I just discovered, Long World Services. They assist people in emptying out a loved one’s home and getting it ready for sale after they have died. They understand that many people prefer to do this task on their own, but that many others would prefer to let a professional handle the details, especially if the home is a long distance away.
Long World Services also posts lots of helpful videos on their Facebook page on how to approach this daunting process if you’re tackling it on your own. The tone they set is straightforward, helpful, understanding, but not patronizing or sugary. Here is the link to their video, What to Keep When Emptying a Loved One’s Home. (full disclosure: they briefly mention my quilts when discussing what to save or discard)
Take a look and pass it along to anyone who may need this kind of support.
