Traveling from Zion to Cortez, Colorado served up some crazy cool cliffs and canyons. In Zion, we took a hike up to Angel’s Landing, complete with chains to hang on to above 1000 foot drops.
Between Zion and the Grand Canyon, we camped out on BLM land near the Vermillion cliffs with no one for miles around. The light seemed to glow from inside the rocks themselves.
The Grand Canyon was a lost too vast to comprehend, even when we hiked down into it a short way.
Stopping at the Four Corners monument just on the edge of the Navajo Reservation, we had to try some Navajo Fry Bread – with cinnamon sugar on top.
Then we hiked up Sand Canyon, right outside of Cortez, Colorado. The prickly pear and yucca were abundant
and there were still archeological remains of the native cliff dwellers.
The Southwestern desert is truly an amazing landscape.
