I have been collecting notecards ever since I can remember. I have shoeboxes full. Ivanya’s Graduation Quilt
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about giving the second in a series of 30 graduation quilts to a boy named Olin. It is now Ivanya’s turn, only this time, I was not able to bestow this third quilt in person. Instead, her father hand-carried it all the way to Germany where she has been finishing out her high school education. Like the first two, this quilt is made from pieces of clothing belonging to many of the adults who have watched Ivanya grow up. Congratulations to our dear Ivanya!
My 3 Favorite Non-Fiction Books
It used to be that the only books I ever read were fictional novels. Nothing wrong with that, I love fiction! Happily, however, my husband gradually began turning me on to some great non-fiction texts he was reading, and now I’m hooked. In the last year, I have read many books, but my three absolute favorites are Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal, Daniel James Brown’s The Boys in the Boat, and Rebecca Skloot’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
