ADEC: An Amazing Resource
Last week I exhibited my memorial quilts at the 2015 Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) Conference in San Antonio. It was a completely new experience for me to be sharing my work in this capacity. My audience consisted of a varied group of professionals working in the field of death, dying, and bereavement – an audience that was immediately receptive to the idea of memorial quilts. Most Recent Memorial Quilt
Over the past couple of months, I have had the pleasure of creating a set of two memorial quilts for a woman whose mother, Genevieve, passed away in 2013. Genevieve was known for her lively sense of humor and her dedication to nursing. Taking seven of Genevieve’s garments together with a solid ivory linen, I constructed the two quilts using my Eclipse quilt pattern.
The process began with deconstructing the garments.
